Passed in 2016, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant legislative change in European data protection laws since the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC), introduced in 1995. The GDPR, which is enforceable from May 25, 2018, seeks to strengthen the security and protection of personal data in the EU and serve as a single piece of legislation for all of the EU. It will replace the EU Data Protection Directive as well as all the local laws relating to it. The GDPR is a legal framework that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information of individuals within the European Union - even if that data is collected or processed outside of the EU.
How does Outsource Screening support GDPR?
Outsource Screening is a new Applicant Tracking System designed to help individual companies, and companies recruiting on behalf of other companies, screen applicants for job vacancies. As Outsource Screening is a new software application we have the advantage of zero legacy systems in place and have been able to develop Outsource Screening to meet the requirements of the GDPR. A full data audit has taken place in order to ensure GDPR compliance.
How does Outsource Screening protect the privacy of applicants applying for job vacancies?
We take the security and privacy of all Outsource Screening users very seriously and have followed the GDPR guidelines to protect the privacy of all users of Outsource Screening whether or not they are EU residents. Any data uploaded to Outsource Screening is securely transmitted using 256 bit encryption. Our servers are hosted by DigitalOcean and are located in New York, United States. Applicants can request to have their video interview and any other personal data removed from our servers. To do so send an email from the email address you used to take the interview to firstname.lastname@example.org. Companies using Outsource Screening review the application information to help them make a decision on the suitability of a candidate and whether to invite for a face to face interview. The information is only shared with authorised recruiting staff or other key members within the company looking to make the hire. These staff must first accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement enforced by Outsource Screening. The video interviews are only allowed to be viewed from our servers and we do not offer a facility for the video data to be downloaded to other computer devices. No data is processed or used for a secondary purpose.
